Where’s the Buzz?

01May10

If you own a smart phone (i.e. iPhone, Blackberry or Android) you might want to consider downloading the Buzzd application.  Buzzd let’s you know in real-time what’s happening around you and of course where all the BUZZ is at.  If you’re out and about at night and want to go to a hot spot you would just check the Buzzdmeter to see where people are hanging out.  Buzzd also piggbacks off the likes of Foursquare and Gowalla, aggregating their content to see who’s checked-in where as part of the real-time BUZZ around you.  According to Founder Nihal Mehta Buzzd is looking to be the anti-Yelp in that it delivers real-time ratings and reviews from friends, members of the Buzzd community as well as pull in data from other location-based social mobile apps.  Mehta says that since most people use content rather than contribute to it something like Yelp isn’t helpful if you have no idea who is writing these reviews and typically it’s the same types of people that do so.  This is Mehta’s fifth venture after founding an advertising mobile company which he sold to Omnivision.  Buzzd is continuing to add new features and working to tap into the local advertising space to monetize their product.
